Teenage defender Pau Gubarsi was delighted to be named Man of the Match after his side’s 3-0 Champions League win over Brest.
Barcelona 17-year-old defender Pau Gubarsi has admitted. He did not expect to be named man of the match in their 3-0 win over Brest as Robert Lewandowski and Pedro Gonzalez Lopez Pedri also played well. Mundo Deportivo reported on Wednesday UFABET
Lewandowski scored twice, Daniel Olmo scored once, and Pedri and Marc Casado also played well. But it was Gubarsi who took home the Man of the Match award for his impressive and composed performance in the 3-0 win over Brest. He made accurate tackles and completed 96 per cent of his 115 passes, deserving of the award.
‘The truth is, I didn’t expect to win the best player award. Anyone can win it. Pedri and Robert played well too. I got it, so I’m very grateful.’
‘The game is very complicated because we just went through a bad period. People tend to try to criticize when we have a bad game, but that’s normal.’
Asked if he ever felt stressed on the pitch. Especially playing in such a big game at the age of 17, he replied: ‘No, I’m a calm young man on and off the pitch.’
Before Gubarsi added on Barcelona’s form: ‘We are now 100 per cent back and we have to keep doing this.’
